Well, here’s some news that will get people talking. After much confusion, rapper Trinidad Jame$ has confirmed that he’s been dropped by Def Jam Records.
Per custom, the ATLien felt most comfortable with revealing his current circumstance via Twitter. “I should tell yall. I got dropped by the Label. My Album is now free,” said Jame$ before continuing, “If u hear ur beat or verse on it. I hope u want dap cuz i got no money.”
Musically, the southerner has very little to show from his time at Def Jam, which he signed to in 2012 after his breakout hit “All Gold Everything” reached critical mass. He inked the deal under Joie Manda’s tenure as label president. But after the executive parted ways for greener pastures at Interscope Records, Jame$ was left out to pasture.
Paired with his inability to create a song with anywhere near the impact of the aforementioned single, among other things, his relationship with the label seemed all but over.
In situations like this, the peanut gallery known as Twitter rarely go quiet. After the jump, see what folks are saying about Trinidad Jame$ getting dropped from Def Jam. Share your thoughts in the comments.
