Since the fatal shootings in the Charlie Hebdo magazine office in Paris on Wednesday (Jan. 7), the city and the entire nation of France has been gripped by terror. As authorities took aim to take down the alleged shooters in the massacre that sparked current tensions, other developments have arisen.
Several news outlets from around the world has all eyes on Paris and the movements of the previously unidentified shooters that stormed the Charlie Hebdo offices and unleashed gunfire. As reported, the magazine was known for its satirical fare and took aims at beloved Muslim figures and Islam itself.

Cherif and Said Kouachi
French police released a photo of Cherif and Said Kouachi, the brothers named as the top suspects in the Charlie Hebdo shooting. After fleeing in a car to the northwest part of the city, the Kouachi brothers were cornered and stormed out of a building where they held a male hostage and were killed. The mayor of the town of Othis was one of the first to report the death of the brothers according to CNN. The hostage survived the raid.
Cherif Kouachi Was Known To Police As A Militant
Cherif Kouachi, 32, also known as Abu Issen, was part of an Al-Qaeda training network. After being arrested while trying to flee to Syria for terrorist training, Kouachi was detained. While in prison, he came under the spell of convicted militant and terrorist, Djamel Beghal.

Said Kouachi Left ID Behind In Car After Shooting, Police Say
Said Kouachi, 34, also had a history of working with militant Islamists. Police sources say that Kouachi left his ID in a car after the shooting, which made a big break in the case.

Hayat Boumeddiene and Amedy Coulibaly
Hayat Boumeddiene and Amedy Coulibaly took hostages at a Paris grocery store, leading to a standoff with police. The pair demanded freedom for the Kouachi brothers and pledged support according to reports. Around the same time the Kouachi brothers went down, police stormed the store and killed Coulibaly, who was a Black man. Boumeddiene, 26, escaped as around 10 hostages fled the store with four reportedly killed.

On Thursday, Coulibaly and Boumeddiene carred out a vicious attack and gunned down a French policewoman ahead of the store standoff. The killing took place in a southern suburb of Paris.
ISIS/ISIL Supported The Kouachi Brothers
A radio broadcast from ISIS/ISIL praised the actions of the Kouachi brothers, although it isn’t known if they were linked. The pair told police by phone they wanted to die as martyrs.
Police Have Arrested Nine Persons In Connection To The Charlie Hebdo Attack
Unrest in Paris and its surrounding suburbs has been ongoing and will certainly continue. There have been unconfirmed reports of hostility between supporters of Charlie Hebdo and Muslim residents in the region. Officials have not unveiled details of the arrests, but did state that more might be coming.
A Third Suspect Was Named
Hamyd Mourad, 18, was named a suspect and turned himself in to police. However, classmates say the high school senior was in school at the time of the shooting and was no way involved. A massive social media campaign on Mourad’s behalf was launched under the #MouradHamydInnocent hashtag.
