8 Things We Learned From Desiigner On The Breakfast Club

Ever since the release of “Panda” last year, Desiigner’s been riding a tsunami wave of success that’s landed him atop the music world and even notched him some movie cameos in the upcoming Baywatch and Ocean’s 8.

Today (May 16), the Brooklyn rapper stopped by The Breakfast Club for the first time in his young career and shed some light on his feelings on the Future comparisons and the shot the Atlanta rapper took at him, why he said “F*ck NY RADIO,” and what led to him getting hit with gun charges late last year.

1. Panda

When “Panda” popped off, Desiigner ended up in an 11 label bidding war. Eventually G.O.O.D. Music called him up and the rest was a wrap.

2. Futuristic Style

Desiigner won’t say that Future inspired his style, but does say that the “Mask Off” rapper makes “beautiful music.” He also finds the shot that Future took at him as a compliment.

3. NY Radio

He says he tweeted out “F*ck NY RADIO” because he wants more plays for his other records. He does admit that tweet came out during a “b*tch moment.”

4. Gun Charges

When Desiigner was arrested late last year on gun charges he says it was a case of cursing out a driver who decided to call the cops on him after almost crashing into each other. D says that the police knew who he was and after locking him up they began to say that “the panda in the cage.” So petty for no reason.

5. Real Pandas

He didn’t realize that Panda’s were going extinct until people began posting that fact on his social media after he released his smash hit, “Panda.”

6. Getting Shot

The 6’5″ rapper used to be into sports but gave up on it when he got shot when he was 14-years-old. He says he was a bad kid and he got taught a lesson. This dude stays positive.

7. Profit Sharing

Desiigner bought the Panda beat for $200 and made $10 million off of it. Talk about a profit.

8. Mama Like Me

Apparently he and his mother share the same upbeat and colorful personality. That’s kind of hard to imagine but if it proves accurate don’t be surprised if they get their own reality show.
