Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has passed away. Reportedly, he committed suicide.
TMZ reports that Bennington hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. The “In The End” singer was found early Thursday morning (July 20). Chester was married with 6 children from 2 wives.
Linkin Park’s 2000 debut album, Hybrid Theory, fluidly blended Rock with Hip-Hop, with Bennington’s all-star vocals helping it peak at no. 2 on the Billboard album chart before eventually being certified diamond (10M units sold). In 2004, Linkin Park collaborated with Jay-Z on Collision Course.
Social media immediately reacted to the news of the singer’s passing—see below and on the following pages.
RIP Chester Bennington.
