Meek Mill, born Robert Rihmeek Williams, is back in prison, and has a new mugshot to prove it. Interestingly, in his statement to the judge who sentenced him, the Philly rapper revealed he was battling a Percocet addiction.
Although his parole officer and the prosecution recommended no jail time, Judge Genece Brinkley still sentenced him to 2 – 4 years, citing a failed drug test, failure to get permission to travel and the now infamous cases of reckless driving in NYC and an assault in a St. Louis airport, that were both dismissed.
“I’ve been trying to help you since 2009,” said Brinkley during the sentencing, per NBC 10. “You basically thumbed your nose at me.”
Meek Mill offered up a statement that included an admission to his addiction to the aforementioned painkiller.
Reports NBC 10:
Mill owned up to the violations in his only statement during the hearing and said that jailing him would likely end his musical career. He said that he has battled addiction to the prescription painkiller Percocet and that he has only tried to escape a life of crime.
“I may have made a mistake but I never had the intention of disrespecting you,” he said.
His lawyer, Brian McMonagle, restated the prosecutor’s recommendation of no prison sentence back to the judge as Mill emptied his pockets and removed jewelry from his wrists. With a court officer looming behind him, Mill turned his head and looked backed in the direction of his mother before standing up and being led out of the room by the officer.
Cold world.
Meek’s mugshot was reportedly taken at the state prison in Graterford, Montgomery County, PA.
Also, a petition has been started to have the judge on his case disbarred.

The “Amen” rapper’s lawyer has been telling anyone who will listen that the judge who sent Meek back to the bing, Genece Brinkley, has had a vendetta against him all along.
A Care2 petition has started that has over 20,000 signatures and hopes to have the judge who sentenced him disbarred.
Part of the message reads, “She sends everybody to jail for probation violations, even when black men are trying to do right. She just sends people away because she can and these people are out here doing the right thing. She is bitter and doesn’t need to be a judge controlling someone else’s life!! #FreeMeek #FreeMeek #FreeMeek #FreeMeek”
It also cites the copious amounts of police officers who killed Black men yet have not served time.
The petition does mention Meek’s failed drug tests but makes no mention of the dismissed cases (reckless driving, for example) that the judge surely considered).
No word on which prison Meek Mill will be incarcerated in just yet.
