Young Dro should have held Grand Hustle down during the numerous times T.I. was in jail. Unfortunately, Dro only released one album, Best Thang Smokin’, in 2006.
Artists should NEVER sign to a label where the president wants to get more shine than the artist. IE Bad Boy or Roc Nation…Dumb move.
I’d go with Maybach, Good Music, or Konvict or maybe Young Money
Randy, this is not a popularity contest. Plenty people sale but are wack. I’ll listen to AZ over wayne, drake and all this other crap thats out. Callin lauren hill a bust….wtf are you smoking? You have no credibility. Find another job chump
I think AZ (years ago) and Blu (last 4 or 5 years) chose the underground sound and street respectability over the whole popularity and billboard charts thing. The jury’s still out on Saigon and Jay Electronica but I’m betting they’ll choose the same route.
One thing people have to realize though is that even though these acts (AZ, Blu, Saigon, etc..) may not ever be household names, they still make $. It’s not always what you take in but what leaves out.
YOU CANT TAKE ANYTHING ANYONE WRITES OR PUBLISH ON THIS WEBSITE SERIOUSLY. TOO MUCH BIAS AND AZZ KISSING OF CERTAIN ARTISTS ON THIS SITE. AND THE CENSORSHIIP IS DEPLORABLE.
I greed with the post. these artists are not being consistent like kanye, jay-z, nas, snoop, Ice cube, LL cool j who have longevity.
With all due respect you are really oversimplifying things.
Each of the artists you’ve mentioned were/are all affiliated with major rap labels. That’s not the case with some of the guys on this ‘bust’ list.
It’s like comparing the banking careers of someone at Goldman Sachs or JP Morgan Chase on Wall Street with someone at First National of Anytown, U.S.A. The First National guy may be great at helping people in their lives (probably more than the average Wall Street crook) but he won’t make nearly as much $ or have nearly as high of a profile.
Love the name African King though!
How in the world could you guys forget about PAPOOSE!!! He was one of the most talked about emcees from 2003-2006 & released over a dozen mixtapes in the last 8 yrs & eventually landed one of biggest recording contracts for a hiphop artist EVER, a whopping $1.5 Million dollar deal with Jive Records but has not produced anything remotely successful or close to the hype surrounding his buzz… How could you guys miss him!!?!?!?
Yep, Yung Dro fell victim to T.I.’s ego. That dude is waaaaay better than anything on grand hustle. That damn Clifford.
Lauryn Hill looks like the homeless woman that goes from my recycling trash looking for cans
