As Young Buck prepares to serve an 18-month prison sentence for weapons charges, he’s expressing a new outlook on life.

The Tennessee native spoke to XXL about his forthcoming prison bid, revealing that there were a series of unfortunate events that led to his downward spiral, which will hit an all-time low when he begins serving his time next month. “There were all the crazy things that happened to me in the last few years leading up to this situation I’m in today,” he said.

Currently on house arrest, the 31-year-old has a refreshingly optimistic outlook on life. “My mindset moving forward is letting the past be the past. Don’t judge me behind what you think I am or what you thought I did or none of that. Pay attention to Buck because the man that I was yesterday ain’t the man that I am today.”

Despite being in the middle of an ongoing bankruptcy case, being evicted, and preparing to have his possessions auctioned off to cover his outstanding tax bill, he’s confident that things will turn around. “I know whatever is at the end of the rainbow…it’s gotta be a pot of gold.”

Buck will begin his sentence August 13.
