Three little letters got a mother in Kentucky in all kinds of trouble: BBQ. Lamonica Anganette Hill was arrested Monday (Oct. 15) for setting her apartment on fire while her son slept in his room.

The mother living in Lexington, is facing attempted murder and and first-degree arson charges for starting a blaze, which she claims took place while she was sleepwalking an dreaming of barbecue. Not surprisingly, police don’t really believe her story. “I can’t speculate on her motive to telling that story but obviously we have enough evidence to know that that was not the case in this situation,” said Lexington Fire Department captain Carrie Bowling.

Investigators found charcoal, lighter fluid and a grill lighter in the room where the fire was started, which may have been planted to aid in Hill’s defense. The 41-year-old was guided out of the unit by the help of a 911 dispatcher, and offered up the bizarre story once firefighters arrived at the scene.

Leading up to the fire, Hill drugged her young son, and blocked a route for him to escape to safety. “That scares me. I have two small kids of my own. If it was intentional, then I mean she needs to be punished for it. As far as overdosing a child on medication, she’s not a very good parent in my eyes,” said a tenant at the Circle View Apartments where Hill and her son resided.

Hill is being held on $500,000 bail and pleaded not guilty to all charges. She is one of  a growing number of mother’s who have tried to kill their children. As previously reported by HipHopWired, a mother in Florida tried to kill her son because she could no longer care for him, and in Houston a woman beat her son to death for urinating on himself.
