There’s more heat to be heard in this edition of Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week.
The most relevant music to release this week came from Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, which is fairly represented in this list (no, it doesn’t rank the album’s best tracks). Hear a few standout cuts from the project and other notable records via The Wrap Up.

10. Joey Bada$$ – “Perception VS Reality”
Producer: Kirk Knight
Per usual, the Pro Era MC rhymes from an enlightened perspective on this B4.DA.$$ leftover.
9. Dr. Yen Lo (Ka & Preservation) – “Day 3”
Producer: Preservation
The full vision of Ka and producer Preservation’s Dr. Yen Lo union has yet to be fully realized. We’re intrigued in the meantime, though.
8. Kembe X – “Feeling Like The Man”
Producer: Opi Tayler

The promising Chicago wordsmith now calls the West Coast home. That can be heard in this track’s vibe and soundscape.
7. Kendrick Lamar – “For Sale?”
Producer: Taz Arnold, Sounwave, & Terrace Martin
Hope this isn’t a spoiler, folks. If so, too bad.
6. Kendrick Lamar ft. Pharrell – “Alright”
Producer: Pharrell & Sounwave
If there’s an obvious pick for a single on K. Dot’s To Pimp A Butterfly, it’s this song.
5. Earl Sweatshirt – “Grief”

Sweatshirt is as good a MC as he’s ever been, and that’s a great sign for his forthcoming LP, I Don’t Like Sh*t, I Don’t Go Outside.
4. Black Milk – “I Guess”
Producer: Black Milk
We are convinced that Black Milk has stash of that special Space Jam potion.
3. Kendrick Lamar – “u”
Producer: Taz Arnold, Whoarei, & Sounwave
The Compton MC bears his soul, guilt, and then some on this thoughtful cut.
2. Kendrick Lamar – “Momma”
Producer: Knxwledge & Taz Arnold
This is so Dilla-esque.
1. Kendrick Lamar ft. James Fauntleroy & Ron Isley – “How Much A Dollar Cost”
Producer: LoveDragon
This is easily one of the most essential tracks on the album everyone is talking about. Also, this list could have easily been 10 To Pimp A Butterfly songs.
