After a war of words at barbershop Pop’s wake (which was executed with a lot more class than what Trump’s been doing at these Presidential debates by the way), Luke and Cottonmouth are determined to shut each other down by any means necessary.
For now it’s looking like Luke has Cottonmouth on the ropes what with his operations being left in shambles and his pockets as thin as Kevin Durant on that Rolling Stone Cover. But Cornell Stokes isn’t planning on going quietly into the night no matter how much shade he’s getting from his cousin, Councilwoman Dillard, or his crooked cop, Detective Scarfe.
Will Stokes see that he’s fighting a losing battle against a man who’s half man and half amazing or will he much on into the sh*t storm that he’s brought upon himself?
Here’s a quick recap of Marvel’s Luke Cage, Episode 6: Suckas Need Bodyguards.
Supply & Demand
After scooping Cottonmouth’s confiscated artillery out of police lockup, Detective Scarfe was feeling himself a bit too much and tried to put the squeeze on Cottonmouth for an extra $100,000 for his troubles. After Cottonmouth balked at the demand, Scarfe jumped out the window and clowned him for being Luke Cage’s punching bag. For that Scarfe got snuck and eventually caught a few hot ones to his frame after courtesy of his own gun a la The Game. Dr. Dre won’t be able to make money off this one though. Luckily, Cotton still got Lieutenant Perez on his payroll to help clean up that little mess he made.
Remember Me?
Just a few days after touching down in Harlem the beautiful nurse Claire finally gets reacquainted with Luke. At first Luke didn’t remember her but once she described how his “girlfriend” Jessica Jones brought him to help her, Cage knew who she was. Also, was Claire’s mami trying to be a matchmaker?
Blowin’ Up The Spot
After taking a few hot ones from his own gun Scarfe knew it was only a matter of time before the cops or Stoke’s would find him so he decides to go to Pops Barbershop to lay low and ask Luke for protection. After coming clean like Jeru about working for Cottonmouth and killing Chico, Luke temporarily chokes the life out of him before Scarfe offers to put Cottonmouth away for life with a mountain of evidence he’s collected over the years. Now it’s off to the precinct to turn him in and get him medical assistance.
Prices On My Head
After getting word from Lieutenant Perez that Scarfe ran to Luke for protection and is willing to give him up, Cottonmouth decided that Scarfe was worth $100,000 after all… to anyone who brings him in dead.
A Current Affair
Councilwoman Dillard gives a live interview only to get ambushed with a barrage of questions about her ties to Cottonmouth and his operations. After things got too hot to handle, Dillard went half-Trump and ended up kicking everyone out her house.
Checkmate?
After dipping, dodging and ultimately distributing many fades to Cottonmouth’s hired guns, Luke Cage just couldn’t stop Scarfe from biting the bullet that he had already taken. Now responsible for the death of a police officer, Cottonmouth gets some new wrist jewelry for his troubles. Does this mean Luke Cage has finally won the war against Cottonmouth? There’s a few more episodes so probably not.
