We’re just a week away from electing our first female commander in chief (maybe) so it’s only right that a socio-political Hip-Hop icon like Common releases his latest album, Black American Again, this Friday.
Today the Chicago rapper stopped by The Breakfast Club to speak politics with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God and broke down what he sees in both presidential candidates, staying friends with his famous ex-girlfriends, and building with President Barack Obama in the White House.
Not bad for a kid from the Southside of Chicago.
Here are the 8 things we learned from Common on The Breakfast Club.

1. Hillary Clinton
Common feels that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate for President of The United States, but says Black people need to hold her responsible for her actions or lack there of.
2. 100 Grand Man
One time Common brought the CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz to Southside Jamaica Queens due to Schultz’s desire to help the community. Together they started the 100,000 Opportunity Initiative in Chicago but it’s expanding all over.
3. Trump Supporters
Common admits that it would be difficult for him to work with someone who publically supports Donald Trump. He wants to surround himself with positive people.
4. Donald Trump
Common doesn’t think that Donald Trump isn’t a leader and doesn’t have the ability to be POTUS. Most non-deplorable people feel the same way.
5. Regina Hall
Common says Regina Hall is just his “buddy” and she’s “super cool.” He says he’s single. He adds that he and his exes are all still cool. We can’t say we’re surprised.
6. Growing Pains
Common says he can look back and laugh at some of the more interesting fashion choices he made during his career.
7. Social Media
He uses social media to promote his music and art, not his private life. If only more entertainers would take notes of this a lot of music beef could be avoided.
8. President Obama
According to Common, he, Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, Alicia Keys, Chance The Rapper, and Nicki Minaj had a 4 hour sit down with President Barack Obama in the White House to speak about Prison Reform. No secret service or anything. Funny enough Rick Ross’s ankle bracelet kept going off.
