Earlier this week, the New York Times published an article in their Home section (titled “License To Grill”) about the Beastie Boys’ Mike Diamond’s (bka Mike D) Brooklyn townhouse. The article included a gallery of photos displaying quite the fancy digs, as Mike D discussed getting his place renovated with a “reno-architecture budget” of “under $500,000”.
The slideshow showed flicks of artsy designs carefully arranged throughout his home in the well-to-do Cobble Hill section of BK, with price tags that could would make Pier 1 cry wicker tears. Clicking through the gallery, the biggest question posed is, “Wow, was music that good to him?” Not exactly.
Gothamist published an article a day later, discussing how Mike D could really afford a pad like that with filmmaker wife Tamra Davis. The answer is quite simple. When he wasn’t gripping mics with the Beasties, destroying the good name of d’evils, the Rock ‘N Roll Hall Of Famer was pretty paid. His mom was an interior designer, his father an art dealer – that explains why his living quarters are so eccentric.
The real truth uncovered though was, yes, he’s always been pretty rich. It’s always been deeper than rap. Well, regardless of his bloodline budget, check out the flicks of his plush pad in the following pages.
