The presidential race is only two short months away, and regardless of what party you side with, it’s important to know the issues when marking your ballot. As we have reported, President Obama continues to lead opponent Mitt Romney in national polls, but the fight goes far beyond the two candidates.
At the heart of this battle is the fight between Republicans and Democrats, or Red vs. Blue. While Obama (and other Democrats) have been known to try and unify each side, opposition from Republicans runs deep. Republicans want to hold onto to control of the House and Senate, while Democrats are fighting for the same thing.
The President has accused Republicans of using smear tactics to try and damage his re-election bid, while Mitt Romney & Co. blame the president for trying to make him look bad.
With these, and other examples take a look at our five reasons why political parties are pretty much like gangs, but with less (publicly known) blood shed.
Also, don’t forget to let your voice be heard, and vote on November 6.

Gang Colors
This one is pretty obvious. Red and blue, against red and blue.
They roll deep
Like the gangs, which see an enrollment of about 5,000 people a year, political parties boast strong numbers. As of August of this year, a record-breaking 37.6 percent of American are Republicans.
They refuse to make peace with another
You’d be hard pressed to find an opportunity where Democrats and Republicans will forever become one. Instead they remain on opposite sides of the political sector, with both parties accusing the other of being non-cooperative. President Obama has said that Republican opposition in Congress has hindered his ability to do his job.
Community leaders and ex-gang members alike have tried to bring peace between rival gangs, but it just doesn’t work.
They have a strong hold on society
When holding a political opinion, it’s important to “choose up.” Aside from being a Democrat or Republican there’s an opportunity to join the Independent party, but let’s face it, that’s not as cool. Also, we never really hear about the Independent party, but in case you’re wondering they stand on the grounds of acknowledging “God as the Creator of all and appeals to Him for help in protecting all He has graciously given us.”
Gangs involuntarily fall into the popularity pool, and once you’re in, you’re in for life.
They’re always fighting for supremacy
Regardless of what you believe politically, there’s no denying that Democrats and Republicans are fighting to be right in the race for supremacy. Every four years, a president is chosen, and –for better or for worse—the party he belongs to shifts the way in which he will lead.
Rival gangs are always fighting to be number one, and sometimes lose their lives in the battle.
