A pair of Puerto Rican men were stopped by police who caught them transporting 136 pounds of cocaine in The Bronx. The street value of the bust is estimated at $3M.
Someone is sweating bullets and desperately trying to make this right with his “connect.”
Reports the New York Daily News:
Mark Soto, 23, and Xavier Herbert-Gumbs, 22, both from Puerto Rico, were allegedly transporting the white stuff from Massachusetts into the neighborhoods of Allerton and Kingsbridge when they were picked up on Dec. 17, cops said.
Cops found 110 pounds of cocaine pressed into 50 bricks with brand names like “Messi” imprinted on them when they stopped Herbert-Gumbs in a Chevy Tahoe on Williamsbridge Road and Pelham Pkwy. about 6:15 p.m., authorities said.
A little less than an hour later, Soto was stopped after cops saw him pull a military bag with his name printed on the side from a Hyundai rental car with Massachusetts plates on Corlear Ave. and W. 231 St., authorities said.
Inside the trunk of the car was 26 pounds of cocaine, according to cops.
Needless to say the stealth of these alleged coke transporters leaves much to be desired. The authorities found Herbert-Gumbs’ ID in Soto’s car.
Both men were charged with possession of a controlled substance and held on six-figure bonds.
