Hip-Hop culture found a way to express itself outside of the music format this past SXSW when Nick Cannon, Nipsey Hussle and New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz came together for a Project C.A.N.V.A.S shoes brunch that brought out everyone’s colorful side.
The company has a simple yet informative mission per its website:
Project C.A.N.V.A.S (CAN Visually Achieve Success) was founded upon the principle that within every person lies a wealth of creativity. It is a project that set out to empower youth and young adults across the world to believe in themselves. People are inspired by Project C.A.N.V.A.S to treat life as a canvas upon which they have the power to create their own masterpiece. Every project C.A.N.V.A.S pair of shoes is one of a kind, decorated with abstract versions of the primary colors. The three basic color platform provides a foundation for self-expression, individuality, and creativity. The Project C.A.N.V.A.S concept is a vibrant, yet simplistic aesthetic that serves as a base for art, culture, and fashion to be expressed in a unique format accessible to all. Life is like a canvas. It begins blank and everyday is another brushstroke. Make your life a masterpiece.
Karen Civil and Neighborhood Nip continued their global Creshaw campaign while Jam Master Jay’s son, DJ TJ Mizzel carried on his father’s legacy and held down the wheels of steel. DJ’s Hardy Indigo and Steph Floss also manned the turntables throughout the event.
