Samsung just held its big keynote, and there is literally a whole lot to unpack. The tech giant unveiled its worst-kept secret the Galaxy Fold, its new family of Galaxy S10 flagship phones due out March 8 including a 5G model (coming later this year) and new wearables including a sleek new pair of wireless AKG earbuds and smartwatches.
We have been waiting for this day since we got a chance to preview Samsung’s newest devices last week in New York City. We walked in the Samsung 837 flagship location not knowing what to expect and walked out absolutely amazed at what the company had to offer in the next iteration of its flagship Galaxy model.
It’s been ten years since Samsung first, introduced the Galaxy smartphone to the world. We have seen the phone undergo numerous changes, but with the S10 the company is giving its customers more screen, less bezel, smarter advanced cameras, 5G capability, longer lasting intelligent batteries, and choices.
The Galaxy S10e

First up is the Galaxy S10e which could be compared to Apple’s iPhone XR. The S10e starts at $749 compared to S10, and S10+ more expensive price tags. It doesn’t have the glossy look like its bigger brothers, lacks the new in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner (we will get into that later) and sports a slightly watered down version of the new rear Pro-Grade camera system due to it missing the 12-megapixel telephoto camera, but it still delivers.
Enough about what the phone doesn’t have and let’s focus on what it does. The fingerprint scanner is no longer located on the back of the phone but now is embedded on high on the right side of the phone. The S10e features a 5.8-inch version of the new Dynamic AMOLED 19.9 full display that still boasts improved color accuracy and brightness despite running at the lowest resolution of the three, but it still runs Full HD+. The noticeable notch that customers were accustomed too is gone now replaced by a camera hole for the selfie camera. Speaking of cameras it does have the same 10MP Dual Pixel AF, F1.9 (80°) front-facing camera like the S10 while offering the same the f/2.2, 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera and variable-aperture 12-megapixel main camera (with optical image stabilization) and can record 4K HDR video essentially offering customers premium options in a smaller package.
Under the hood, the S10e runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with either 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage allowing for amazingly fast performance. If that is not enough memory for you, it can be expanded thanks to the inclusion of the MicroSD slot. Battery life on the phone has been improved thanks to what Samsung describes the new all-day battery that is supposed to last 24 hours off a single charge. The phone also does have the new wireless power share allowing charging of wearables and devices as well as other phones including iPhones. The S10e seems like a reliable and affordable third option without sacrificing all of the new features.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is a step up from the S10e starting $899 with the $999.99 S10+ being a high-end luxury model. Unlike the S10e, both models show off the full power of Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED, 19:9 display making both phones the first Samsung devices to have screens with HDR10+ certification.
Owners will also notice and fall in love with the S10 and S10+’s in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner. Unlike previous biometric technology used on earlier models, this new security feature will read 3D contours of your physical thumbprint instead of a 2D image for improved anti-spoofing basically putting vault-like security on the phone.

As mentioned above the S10 like it the S10e utilizes a 10MP Dual Pixel AF, F1.9 (80°) front-facing camera while the S10+ selfie camera is slightly better Dual Camera – Selfie: 10MP Dual Pixel AF, F1.9 (80°) allowing owners to take portrait mode style selfies. Both phones feature The Pro-Grade rear triple camera system features 12-megapixel wide-angle lens that features dual aperture to assist with low-light situations as the main camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom for crisp up close portrait mode photos and a 16-megapixel ultrawide angle lens so you can fit even more friends or objects into the shot.
Some other neat camera tricks include when you take a selfie on S10+ the edges around the front-facing camera light up, so you know where to look. The cameras are much smarter now and can identify up to 30 different scenes adjusting the settings accordingly so you can get the best shot. There is also a new shot suggestion mode that when turned on will help you line up the perfect shot and when you do take the picture for you automatically. An ideal feature for those who have shaky hands or take photos with one-handed often. If it’s dark outside, that should no longer be a problem thanks to the new Bright Night low-light mode that will make low-light photos much crisper. The S10 phones also shoot steady 4K video to help you capture all of the action footage without that annoying camera shake.
Under the hood, both models run on Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, have 8GB of RAM, an additional 12GB option for S10+. The S10 comes with either 128GB or 512GB of storage while the S10+ plus starts with 512GB or be upgraded to a fantastic 1TB on top of an additional 512GB of expandable storage so space should never be an issue.
As far as battery life the S10 has a 3,400 mAh battery while the S10+ sports a 4,100 mAh both are Samsung’s latest 24-hour intelligent batteries with the help of Adaptive Power Saving Mode boast you will get use your phone more without having to worry about charging often. Speaking of charging these models also take advantage of new Wireless Powershare feature that turns the phones into charging stations for the new Galaxy Buds ($130) and Galaxy Active Watch ($199) which release March 8.

5G is going to change the mobile landscape dramatically. Samsung wants to make sure they are fully prepared for that change with the Galaxy S10 5G. This bad boy is powerful and has all of the improvements of the S10 models and then some. It has a larger 6.7-inch screen, a rear quadruple camera system sporting 3D depth-sensing camera specifically for augmented reality and other photo tricks.
The Galaxy S10 5G comes with 256GB of storage with 8GB RAM to nullify the fact it does not have a microSD slot like the other S10 models. A powerful phone is going to need a big battery, and this phone has that sporting a 4,500-mAh battery to make sure it lasts while accomplishing plenty of tasks including gaming.
The Galaxy S10 5G will launch on Verizon first in Q2 and will arrive on other carriers later Q2. No price has been revealed, but we won’t be surprised if this phone is in or above $1,000 price range.
